Compare Camcorders

If you haven't gone shopping for a camcorder in several years, you will be surprised at how things have changed. That heavy bulky camcorder of years ago has been replaced with new and improved camcorders that are easy to use and sit comfortably in your hand. If you are interested in buying a new model, it is wise to compare camcorders as far as price and features.

Most camcorders are now digital. While analog camcorders are still available, when you compare camcorders the digital camcorder has many more advantages than the analog. If you are looking for an inexpensive camcorder however, the analog is still the cheapest and certainly does have a quality picture and sound. What it doesn't have is the ability to plug your film into your computer in order to edit or add music. Analog camcorders have even become much smaller and easier to handle than the older analog models.

If you decide to buy a digital camcorder, you will still want to take the time to really compare camcorders from each manufacturer and even different models from the same manufacturer. One of the models you will see will be a miniDV. While quite small in size, don't be deceived by that. These models actually produce a high quality picture and sound. A tape is used to record and may be plugged directly into a TV or VCR for viewing. The tape will last for 60 minutes of recording time.

Another option is the disc based camcorder. When you compare camcorders, this one allows you to choose your recording time depending on the speed with which you choose to record. You can record for as little as 20 minutes per disk to as much as 60 minutes per side per disk. The disks produced by these camcorders are much more rugged and harder to destroy than the tapes from the other models.

When you compare camcorders, no matter what camcorder you choose you will get a quality picture and sound with lots of features not found in older models. Set your budget and look around and you will end up with a great camcorder.
